TradeLens was developed to provide a safer and more efficient supply chain management platform.
The Panamanian port, Manzanillo International Terminal - Panama (MIT), a subsidiary company of SSA Marine, announced the integration into its operations of two technologies "that will improve the digital business experience" in the maritime industry, becoming the first port in the Latin American region to use blockchain-based technologies,
“This is TradeLends, a platform created in collaboration with IBM and Maersk for the application of blockchain to global supply chain management, was integrated into Tideworks Technology Inc. (Tideworks), a provider of comprehensive terminal operating system solutions ( TOS) ”they explained.
They explained that the implementation of TradeLens at MIT, which is carried out with the latest development for TOS by Tideworks, Mainsail 10, will increase the terminal operator's ability to access crucial information and automate administrative processes. Tideworks is the first TOS provider to be combined with the TradeLens platform, thanks to collaboration with Maersk and SSA Marine.
TradeLens was developed to provide a safer and more efficient supply chain management platform, as well as greater transparency and traceability. The integration of TOS in this development will facilitate the collaboration of the terminal operator with clients, authorities and other stakeholders.
This would make MIT the first port terminal to benefit from the combined capabilities of Mainsail 10 and TradeLens for blockchain solutions.

According to the company, from now on, MIT will be able to visualize key operational events and manage container and supply chain logistics through the TradeLens platform. This real-time exchange of events through a secure digital network will improve communication between all participants and eliminate the time and resources previously dedicated to completing document management. This ability to enable digital and on-demand collaboration in the supply chain will result in efficiencies and cost reduction.
"We are pleased to be able to strengthen the value of our services by providing our customers with access to the latest digital tools and supply chain management technology," said Stacy Hatfield, MIT general manager. She added that At MIT, we understand that the success of technology initiatives such as TradeLens depends on the collaboration and participation of all actors in the supply chain.
Offering Tideworks TOS solutions in conjunction with the TradeLens platform uniquely positions our customers and strategic partners to safely adapt and scale their operations in an increasingly competitive supply chain industry.
